Chimichanga Cheesy Burrito!
Greetings from Casa dos Gatos! Wild Halloween night tonite. Not only Professional Racing Crabs, but a Costume Contest and Month end at the workplace. I’ll go directly from the Races to work to finish off October. I should be home by two. I’m getting too old for this.
Lots of stuff going on around the Compound. Winter’s coming on. Time to close the pond down. I’ve got this Papyrus that we picked up last summer and wintered in an 8” pot in our bedroom. As you can see, once it hit the pond, it flourished, (it’s about 9’ tall now). Serious work to do to get it back inside. Compost needs to be turned and time to start stowing stuff for the winter.
The crowd was a little shy of what I expected for the Halloween show. But by the end of the evening it had turned out to be quite respectable. Superhero Crab Racing on the Regulation Size (Tournament Size in Britain) Superhero Board. Race Row was full, with Kathy and Steve to Sonny’s right. Half a dozen G Saints and then Carolyn and her Teammate directly in front of me. The Original Sarah and her wonderful friends had the Loud Table, and Another Steve and his friend were at the Jukebox Table. My fellow Costume Contest participants, Cool Cow and Brandon took the Door Table with a small but enthusiastic group. Jerry and Jeff (but not Jerry Jeff) and their rowdy friends manned the Skyboxes. Ricky had the bar. Nelia was in the kitchen (a very intriguing costume combining a referee’s shirt and fishnet stockings. The league is considering adding referees to the Races). Rhonda was on the floor (serving us all) and Steve had the Chainsaw. My only disappointment was that I didn’t get to see Mike in a Wonder Woman costume, Because it’s-

Bit of excitement during the Trivia Jeopardy portion of the show. Sonny was asking a question and we hear a woman screaming from somewhere toward the back door, and she’s coming our way. This is followed by what sounds like someone riding a Husqvarna dirt bike through the kitchen. The woman comes running across in front of the Skyboxes and out the front door. Behind her is a guy with a chainsaw in a mask and an apron. He looks like he escaped from the deli for the criminally insane. Sonny stops the guy and asks him what’s going on. The guy says “She told me she wasn’t married”. To which the crowd replies “THAT LYING BITCH!!!”. Now THAT’S comedy!
Goondocks go strong again. Another Steve walks away with the movie and Jerry rides #29 to it’s second win in as many races. Once again the magical equation f = a(m+C), where a is an amount of alcohol, m is music, C is Crustaceans, and f is the level of fun was proved again.
Quick turnaround this week. Friday night it’s off to Hoagland and the Three Kings restaurant for a special edition of Beers Of The World Crab Racing. Hope you can ride shotgun for that one.
Ciao for nao
